Dr Dundi Vijayakumar - TLM Hero

Dr Dundi Vijayakumar is a pioneering surgeon whose association with The Leprosy Mission began in 1974, when he joined TLM Salur. During his long and illustrious career spanning almost 50 years, he conducted critical reconstructive surgeries in India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, Nepal, Nigeria, and other countries in West Africa.

He has performed more than 25,000 tendon transfer surgeries to correct leprosy deformities and trained several surgeons from India and abroad. He has always been driven by this urge to help people become functionally independent and improve their quality of life.

Dr Vijayakumar is a recipient of several recognitions, including the D Mategaonkar Award for Healing Ministry from the Christian Medical Association of India and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rotary Club of Chennai.
