World Leprosy Day 2012 was observed by thousands of people in over 100 countries around the world on Sunday 29 January 2012. Individuals, churches and community groups participated in awareness-raising and fundraising activities.
Despite the fact that leprosy is curable, hundreds of thousands of people are still affected by the disease and many experience stigma and disability as a result. However, through the work of The Leprosy Mission (TLM), more people are being given access to treatment and communities are being educated about the disease.
