TLM works alongside the Ministry of Health and other rehabilitation agencies in Papua New Guinea.
TLM's focus has moved from leprosy control to Care after Cure as the control of disability project started in 2000. The focus is on prevention and care of disabilities as well as physical and socio-economic rehabilitation.

Community Based Rehab
Community Health Education Local radio stations, newspapers, churches and health services are used to engage and educate communities about leprosy.
Training General health workers, volunteers and people affected by leprosy are trained to detect the first signs of leprosy and taught how to manage the disabilities that can be caused.
Self care After their training, groups of leprosy patients are encouraged to
meet together and share the challenges of wound care and day-to-day tasks.
Protective Footwear Locally available protective footwear is provided for patients with anaesthetic feet to prevent further injury.
Data Collection A register is being established of all people disabled by leprosy throughout Papua New Guinea so that rehabilitation needs can be better addressed. Health staff and volunteers collect the data through protective shoe request forms.
