TLM has been involved with the Danja hospital since it was founded by Serving in Mission International (SIM) in 1956 as the only leprosarium in Niger. TLM works with other project partners at this hospital which has a reputation for excellence in its treatment and care of leprosy throughout Niger.
Public Health Communication Outpatients are reached through weekly health education talks in the hospital and programmes broadcast on local radio stations that inform communities about leprosy.

Training Leprosy training for general health workers means they are able to detect leprosy early on, preventing severe disabilities.
Community development Through micro-credit schemes and training, people affected by leprosy are trained to develop skills which will enable them to be economically independent in their communities.
In 1981, SIM asked TLM to support a leather work project being undertaken at Maradi, which is now independent. TLM, SIM and Christoffel Blindenmission work together to combat leprosy and eye diseases.
