Leprosy control programme

TLM’s work in Guinea is based in the Forest Region and focuses on detecting new cases of leprosy and tuberculosis (TB), working in partnership with the Mission Philafricaine and other partner agencies.

Macenta hospital is a national referral hospital for leprosy in Guinea, providing specialist leprosy care for patients alongside general medical care.

Leprosy awareness initiatives are held in the community to educate and inform about leprosy. World Leprosy Day is celebrated annually and is a great opportunity to promote the cause.


Socio-Economic Rehabilitation
TLM has been involved in a Prevention of Disability/ SER project in the Forest Region since 1998. Through SER programmes, lives are transformed and economic independence found.

Regular Prevention of Disability workshops are held to educate patients and encourage them to look after their leprosy-related injuries.
