Medical Electives
Medical Electives (6-8 week placements)
Medical students, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and nurses are invited to put knowledge into practice on a six to eight week placement. Working alongside our experienced medical professionals in a hospital or community environment, you will learn vital skills that help to relieve the impact of this highly curable disease.
What qualities are needed?
You will need to be:

Physically and emotionally fit, able to cope with working in an developing country |

Good at working alongside others, able to cope with different cultures and ideas |

Adaptable, resourceful, and able to use your own initiative and determination |

Fluent in English |
Where can I go?
Currently we have opportunities in India and Nepal.
How much will it cost?
You will be required to raise your own funds for the cost of return airfare, insurance and medical costs. TLM will pay for board and lodging during the placement. The TLM National Council office will be able to give you advice on fund raising, and we would encourage you to ask your local church and friends to sponsor you.

Contact the International Office here to find out what opportunities are available. |
| Step 3 |
Fill in a medical elective application form and medical report and send it to the International Office; we will contact you to discuss your application.

| Step 4 |
TLM will contact our field offices to see if a suitable placement is available. |
| Step 5 |
If a suitable placement is available, you will be invited to attend an interview at the TLM Office in your home country. References will also be required. |
| Step 6 |
Once you have been accepted, we will help you prepare for your placement. You will also receive advice on vaccinations required for the region you will be visiting. |
