TLMI endorses London Declaration on Neglected Tropical Diseases
Posted on: 31 July 2012

The London Declaration came out of a meeting in London of the World Health Organisation, large pharmaceutical companies and global funders including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. They committed to working together to control or eliminate Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) including leprosy.

Once the Declaration was available online, other organisations were invited to endorse it. ILEP (The International Federation of Anti-Leprosy Associations) has done so, and the TLM International board authorised TLMI to do so in June as a sign of TLMI's commitment to collaborating with others in tackling NTDs.

Although the declaration focuses on the delivery of drugs, it is important to remember that leprosy affects people’s lives in many different ways. TLM cares for the physical, social, spiritual and psychological needs of leprosy-affected people. To find out more about TLM’s work in these areas, here.
